Sophie Overington

Senior Consultant

Sophie has over six years experience working within sustainability and innovation across the UK, Europe, and Australia. She specialises in ESG strategy development, sustainability reporting and disclosure frameworks, and climate risk management and governance across public and private companies as well as early stage start-ups.

Most recently, Sophie was a Senior Consultant at Carbon Intelligence, where she worked with clients primarily in the real estate and financial services industries including Aviva Investors, Prudential plc, and the Church Commissioners. She advised clients on ESG and climate strategy, developed roadmaps to meet TCFD best practice, and worked closely with stakeholders to implement effective governance structures. She also led the development of the Carbon Intelligence in-house platform, to tackle value chain Scope 3 emissions at scale.

Prior to relocating to London, Sophie was the ESG manager at Stockland, a leader in real estate sustainability in Australia. During her time there, she worked directly with the Board and executive team to elevate sustainable investment opportunities, and achieved global recognition as a GRESB Global Sector Leader, CDP A-List, and second globally within the S&P Global Corporate  Sustainability Assessment. She also led the execution of the company’s first integrated annual report.

Sophie previously worked at the Green Building Council of Australia on the update of the Green Star tools. She also worked at GRESB, engaging directly with global real estate asset and fund managers to assess and optimise their GRESB performance, leading working groups to evolve the assessment approach, and on membership engagement. She also developed the GRESB Public Disclosure Scorecard, a data product allowing investors to evaluate the level of material ESG disclosure by listed property companies and REITs.

Additionally, Sophie has extensive experience developing innovative tech products, having worked as an in-house product manager, leading the development of her own tech start-up, and advising start-ups and SMEs on their tech journey. She utilises this experience to bring a human-centred design approach to her work, maintaining a strong focus on the stakeholder experience, and continually exploring more agile and innovative ways of working.

Sophie holds a double bachelor in Environmental Science and Sustainability from Curtin University in Perth, Australia, and an MBA from Ipag Business School in France.
